Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) January Classes

Free Information Session, Monday, January 14, 6:30 - 7:30 PM 

Mondays, January 28th – March 18th, 6:30 - 8:30 PM 
Retreat Saturday, March 9, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM 

This eight-week program is designed to benefit anyone who wants to be able to handle stress more effec-tively and to enhance personal coping skills. MBSR will teach you how to consciously and methodically deal with stress, pain, illness and the demanding challenges of everyday life. The course consists of weekly two hour classes and Saturday retreat.

This highly participatory program includes: 

  • Guided instruction in Mindfulness meditation practices 
  • Gentle stretching exercises and mindful yoga 
  • Educational discussions on various aspects of stress and wellness 
  • Daily home assignments 

As a result of attending this course, many participants report they: 

  • Better manage stress, fear, anger, anxiety and depression at home and at work 
  • Feel less judgmental and critical of themselves and others
  • Decrease the frequency and length of medical visits to healthcare providers and reduce the use of prescription and non-prescription medications

The Instructor

Don Maurer, MD is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He is trained in MBSR and lectures on mindfulness and stress reduction. He has attended training for Health Professionals with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and other senior faculty of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School
