Education in the field of integrative medicine is becoming increasingly important to major universities with outstanding schools of medicine. The medical community itself is becoming more interested in complementary or integrative approaches that embrace non-conventional medical interventions as part of medical treatment, if they are evidence–based and supported by a body of solid scientific research. The center is focused on educating medical students, healthcare professionals and the public about these practices while creating a model of evidence-based clinical care that heals the whole person and maintains the highest level of patient satisfaction.
The center offers professional education conferences for physicians and allied health providers such as acupuncturists and naturopaths that address the latest research and advances in integrative medicine treatments used by practitioners in the Susan Samueli Center and other leading academic centers in the United States and abroad. Ongoing programs and seminars address current pervasive problems best treated with integrative therapy such as chronic pain management, women’s health and weight control disorders.
