Over the past 30 years, there has been exponential growth in research on mindfulness-based interventions. Results continue to reveal the beneficial effects across numerous fields including medicine, psychology, neuroscience, education, and even the military. Dr. Drew de Paz will share a new area of study investigating the impact of mindfulness on employee injuries, employee errors, and workplace costs. This collaborative research project, conducted by UC Irvine Environmental Health & Safety and the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine, has the potential to improve workplace safety outcomes in a variety of settings.
Dr. Drew de Paz is a clinical psychologist who took a valuable detour from her career path to oversee UC Irvine health & safety training for almost a decade. During this time, she also started a psychotherapy private practice where she integrates mindfulness techniques. These two seemingly disparate positions provided an opportunity for the emergence of a research idea, which led to her new position as Mindfulness & Safety Research Coordinator at UC Irvine.
This talk and opportunity for discussion is part of a monthly series offered by the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine. All are welcome. There is no fee and no RSVP is required. For additional information, please visit www.sscim.uci.edu or call 949.824.5763.
