UC Irvine Campus, MedEd Building, Colloquium Room, Third Floor

Dr. Olshansky will present her vision for a holistic school of nursing at UC Irvine.  She is currently working with a graduate student to explore ways to develop a holistic nursing track within the existing Masters degree program.  This presentation will include a discussion on how nursing education can be tailored to integrate concepts from the Optimal Healing Environment Framework, developed at the Samueli Institute.

Dr. Olshansky has more than 30 years experience in nursing as an administrator, researcher and practitioner.  She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She came to UC Irvine as founding director of the Program in Nursing Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was professor and chair of health and community systems in the School of Nursing, which is rated among the top-10 nursing schools nationally.  In addition to her position at Pittsburgh, she has held academic appointments at the University of Washington and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where she was associate dean of the graduate nursing program.
